Week 22 (11 Apr 2015)
There is the biggest baby fair in southeast asia held at Singapore Expo this weekend. We decided to go to our first baby fair! There were many booths and people and we bought what we thought would be useful. Totally clueless being first time parents. In the end, we spent about $800 for all these!
So we bought:
- Philips steriliser set, FOC 3 milk bottles, bottle brush, pillow and bolster ($139)
- Philips milk warmer ($60)
- Breastfeeding pillow ($25)
- 2 swaddling suit and 1 swaddling cloth ($76)
- 2 waterproof mattress protector ($50)
- 5 Carter rompers and 16 baby cloth ($26)
- 3 baby hats ($10)
- Tollyjoy breastpad ($6.90)
- Breathable baby pillow ($24.90)
- 4 in 1 convertible baby cot with mattress and 1 bedding set ($388)- the yang meh meh design is so cute!
Dont think we have even finished buying a quarter of the things that we need and have already spent so much. More spending expected in the months and years ahead!
Weight gain: 6.1kg
Week 23 (12 Apr 2015)
Class number 2 today talked about pain relief, breathing techniques and signs and symptoms of labour. I am so going to take epidural, i cannot believe that i can do it drug free! What was interesting was that the trainer taught us that if we felt contractions or that our waterbag burst, dont rush to the hospital immediately. We should go for a shower first before leaving for the hospital. Yea good idea, never thought of that, would probably have to do that as you wouldnt have the chance to shower for many hours during the delivery process.
Week 24 (19 Apr 2015)
Class number 3 today talked about labour and breathing techniques. The instructor showed us videos of women in labour with the different types of pain relief given. Omg, looking at all those screaming women, it strengthened my affirmation for epidural! It was rather scary watching what it would be like. We should really respect mothers!
We went to a supermum carnival at marina bay floating platform thereafter. It featured numerous baby merchants which ranges from insurance companies, diaper companies, photoshoot companies etc. There was also a yoga session for preggies and dads but we didnt join in. We left the fair with numerous goodie bags but most of the things were not useful. The only useful thing that we took away from the fair was our stroller purchase! Darling has been the one looking at those strollers as they all looked the same to me. Since he likes vehicles, this naturally became his pasar. He has always been aiming this Combi Urban Walker Lite stroller (for babies up to 36 mths) which can position your baby facing you or facing outwards. It is lightweight (6kg) and can be easily assembled and kept. We bought the black one at $390 (exclusive 15% discount at the carnival)! They said that it is the best deal as they usually only give a 10% discount (yea, we didnt see much discount at the baby fair last weekend).
Other than that, there wasn't much things. The various stores gave out freebies, but it always led to a further consultation that they want with you. We left the fair in less than an hour.
Weight gain: 7.0kg
Week 24 (21 Apr 2015)
Tog with my FB group, bought some WINK shapewear online. They made the shapewear sound like it could help salvage any flappy skins and return your pre-pregnancy figure to you. I am so going to buy this! Didnt know that shapewear are not cheap at all. Bought the 2 sets below and spent about $285.
Week 24 (25 Apr 2015)
We signed up for a hospital tour at TMC today. Actually we have already decided on delivery at Thomson given that our gynae is ok with it, but are there just to kpo and sign up for the package. TMC is super small and parking is a nightmare. One can only leave the parking to the valet. They have 12 labour wards and when we had the tour, we didnt hear any screaming women from the labour wards - so we think that if we deliver on 9 Aug, there would not be a problem of having a shortage of wards!
After the labour wards, they brought us to view the hopsital rooms. The 1-bedded rooms were fully taken up and we could only view the 2-bedded rooms. Wa, didnt know that delivery charges are so damn expensive until we came for this tour. Must be prepared to set aside about 7+K for a 2-bedded room with epidural! If for some reasons you require an emergency c-section, ala carte charges would apply and you have to be prepared to set aside about 10+K! We have first opted for a 2-bedded room hoping that they could upgrade it to a 1-bedded to us on that day. If not, we would see if we will change it to a 1-bedded on the day of admission. Darling cant stay with me if we opt for a 2-bedded room, but we shall see how.
Week 25 (26 Apr 2015)
It was lesson 4 and it was all about breastfeeding. They provided us with a baby toy and we did some practical in holding the baby. And the trainer taught us how to breastfeed, how to deal with engorgement and everything else regarding breastfeeding. It sounded really difficult!
Weight gain: 7.5kg
Week 25 (1 May 2015)
There is another baby fair at expo this weekend! It is a much smaller one, about one quarter the size of the one held in Apr. We decided to go again since our purchases now are all focused for the little prince. Expo was a busy place this weekend with wedding, furniture, gain city electrical, metro and baby fair held all at the same time together! At the gain city exhibition, we bought a small Toyomi slow cooker which is needed for cooking confinement soup and porridge for the baby in the coming months ahead. We also bought a standing mistral fan for the guest room where the confinment lady would sleep. At the baby fair, we bought more clothes and bibs for him. Shop shop shop!
Week 26 (3 May 2015 & 6 May 2015)
We went for our last 2 lessons today. The last lessons were very useful one as it is hands-on and tells us things that we may not be aware of. We were taught how to swaddle the baby and how to fold a cloth diaper. Also things like cordblood banking, common emergencies in babies, types of jabs that your baby have to go for and confinement practices. Hopefully we can still remb all these after the delivery!
Weight gain: 8.3kg
Week 26 (8 May 2015)
This was our last visit to the gynae in the second trimester! It was also the visit where I had to be tested for the glucose test. Baby today was 983g already. Doc said that he is of a healthy weight, the other measurements were also healthy. It was a glimpse that i would pass the glucose test.
They all said that the glucose drink was terribly sweet but when i took it, it was ok la. Can still gulp it down, just that my throat felt a bit sore after downing the cup of sugar water. My blood was taken before and 2 hours after i took the drink. One day later, Dr Ben texted me to say that i have passed the test! Great, no need to have any changes to my diet!

Hello, just wondering what's the model of the 2 wink shapewear and what's your review on it? Which one is better and do u think it's better to buy both or 1 will do?
ReplyDeleteHi, I prefer the first one cos it is easier to wear. Not so hot also. If given a choice again, I would buy 2 of the first one so that you can still wear it when one is at wash.
