Ampoules

Ampoules are needed for photoshoot and the actual day. It serves to allow the makeup to last longer. However, the bridal studios usually do not include this as part of their package. My tw bridal studio and Rico are charging about $25 per bottle of ampoule. So, the resourceful (or calculative) Ms Wee decided to buy her own ampoules. It is a bao yang pin which I can use frequently too. Can help to tighten pores, hydrate the skin, and is always used after a facial.

So I went to find out which brand of ampoule Rico uses and decided to buy the same one. Rico uses Pro-Q, a brand that is produced in France. So I contacted a seller who does sprees on ampoules and viola, I bought a box of 10 ampoules at only $18! These bridal studios ar, they earn so much more out of smth that is so cheap in the market. Will try it out on my makeup one day before I use it for the photoshoot in TW.

White is the colour

25 Nov 12 Sun
About 1.5 months ago, we went to MBS to look at the different colour themes of the table and chair linen. We didn't like the colour combination of all the tables that we saw. It is strange why nobody wants to adopt the white table and chair combination! Also, we didn't like the backdrop designs that we saw and wanted to look at more backdrops again. We contacted our coordinator Ethereal, who told us that there will be 8 weddings on 25 Nov 12. But she told us that there will be no one who would be using white tables and chairs.

Nonetheless, we decided to go down to take a look. We were very lucky as we chanced upon a white combination! Maybe this couple decided to change to this colour theme at the last minute. We were glad that we were able to see the combination as we have decided that this is the colour to go! How can white ever be wrong right.

The thing about MBS is that it is not a convention centre. So the finishing of the ballroom is not as grand as the other hotels I feel. The backdrops from the standard package look pretty boring. Don't know whether should top up some $$ to make it look more interesting!

Btw, the balloon décor is not part of the standard package.

Rico again

Hahha, after we signed up with Rico, I kept thinking about the types of gowns that I didn't try there. I only had the chance to try the wedding gown when we first bought the package, but not for evening gown, cheongsam and ROM dress. I want to have a sense on the type of gowns that I would pick from Rico, so that I don't repeat the same styles again in TW.

So, I called my coordinator Jesline and told her about my worries. Theoretically, bridal shops wouldn't allow customers to go there to try the gowns for fun when we already bought their package. It is a waste of their time, but I'm lucky that Jesline allowed me to make an appointment! Hahaa, good that they did that, it's a plus point for them as it didn't show that they only care about new customers! Yesssss, I was very looking forward to this day and was so glad that it finally came!

In just an hour, I was able to find a white toga ROM dress, bright pink cheongsam and black backless evening gown that I really really love! But of cos, since this is just a trial session, I didn't book the dresses for the AD. There would be newer designs next year. So I satisfied my craving in wanting to try the gowns and left Rico as a very happy bride to be. I'm glad that I was also able to try on the pair of heels that I just bought, as I realize that it is not suitable for all the gowns that I wore. A silver pair with more blings will definitely be more suitable. Okkk, a justified reason to shop again! They didn't allow me to take any pictures of the gowns that are not booked. So no pictures for now :)

Concorde Hotel

Whenever we have a chance, we will go for any (free) wedding show available. This time round, we went to Concorde Hotel. We looked at things like the kind of backdrop that we can adopt, the hand bouquet and instant print. We like how the lights brighten up the stage at Concorde and the whole feel of the place. Can be smth to adopt in MBS, but of course with additional cost.

Apart from the traditional flower bouquet that brides hold on to, recently, there is an alternative crystal bouquet in the market. But oh my, it is way too exorbitant. A small bouquet like the below cost $1888! Haha, I will stick to traditional flowers.

We were invited to play with the instant booth. We have not decided on this, but can be smth to consider at a later date. It is definitely fun for the guests, but without it, life would still go on right =p

Pretty nails

I would definitely go for manicure and pedicure for the pre-wedding photo shoot and on the AD. But wedding manicures are really expensive. With pop up nail art, it is usually at least $100 just for the fingers only. The girls on the forum have got together to purchase some fake nails on taobao.com. I have seen a BTB who posted the picture of her fake nails after sticking it on. It looked so real! She is helping to gather bulk orders so that we can enjoy free shipping charges. Somemore, the seller customises the size of the nails for each of our fingers. We have to measure the width of each of our finger and she will work on the sizes accordingly. And so, I decided to also try it out. Ordered two sets of fake nails and they cost only $19!!

Can use this during CNY

Can use this during photoshoot!

Forums

I am the first among my good girlfriends to get married. So I don't have a lot of people who can discuss the details relating to wedding preparations with. As such, my next best source of information and discussions would be with other bride to bes over the cyberspace. I frequent forums like perfectwedding.sg, weddingforum.sg, singaporebrides.com and cozycot.com. Recently, I joined the fb group of Rico A Mona BTB and 2013 BTBs. Wow, it's so happening inside the close groups! Even though the forums also discuss the same things as with the fb page, fb is easier to use as you don't have to click on links after links to track the discussions.

From discussions like the recommended JP, to where to buy suckling pig, to opinions on which evening gown suit a BTB better, to talking about arguments with their HTB/MIL, the girls discuss about anything under the sun! It is a very exciting place to be with as it sustains the hype in wedding preparations. I think I will definitely suffer from wedding preparations withdrawal symptoms after 14 Dec 13!

Inner Beauty

I will definitely put on a sexy backless gown for either the photoshoot or the actual day. Looks so good!

So, it's essential to get the inner beauty. Hahaha don't really like the idea of wearing nothing inside. Sooo, I have gone to Delfi Orchard to buy the strapless Nubra. Costs a bomb! But I wouldn't want to buy those $10 ones from Gmarket as people have commented that they don't stick. Yea, this original brand can stick for about 60 times before you have to buy a new one. It's ok, don't think I will need to wear this so often also.

Bridal Shoes

I have been looking at bridal shoes. Typically, brides all choose very bling silver strappy heels to match both the wedding gown and evening gowns. But usually these heels are not really wearable after the wedding day as they are too bling for everyday wear. They are also very expensive, with the cheapest pair that I saw from Anna Nucci at $60. The rest from the major department and small boutique stores are mostly worth 3 digits.

So after looking at various bling and non bling shoes, I decided on a non-bling one below. It is a 4.5 inches heel but it felt really comfortable when I walk in it. Luckily he is still about 3cm taller than me after I put on the heels. Hahaha, one thing about buying the shoes so early is that I MAY have the tendency to buy another pair of heels next time. Maybe a silver bling one haha! Anyway this is more like an everyday shoe right..
