It has been 6 months since we got married. So fast huh! Cant even feel it, don't even realize it. And after 6 months, we are still not staying tog. Nehhh. Really want the house to be ready soon so that I can feel like i'm really married and live a proper married life.
Iron/ Steamer
We have bought many things. We were deciding between a steamer and an iron. An iron is troublesome because you need to open up the ironing board, but it gives you pressed lines on your shirt and pants. In the end, we decided that we will get a steamer because it is more convenient, and we could really do without lines. Hahaa, darling said that since he would be the one ironing, he wants to decide. My clothes no need lines, so if the iron-er wants a steamer, I'll let him be. Harvey norman has a promotion for Rowenta steamer. We have done our homework, have seen this model around selling at $199 everywhere, but this time, it is reduced to $149. So, just grab.
Vacuum Cleaner
All vacuum cleaners look the same right. So how to decide? We don't really know how to decide except to look at the power watt. The higher the watt, the stronger it is and should be better right? So that was one of the specs that we looked at. The dust bag must also be easily removable so that we can change the bag without fuss. So we asked for assistance. The sales assistance (the one who assisted us with the Rowenta steamer) recommended us a Rowenta vacuum cleaner. I think she will get comms from that brand, but she pointed out that Rowenta is having a promotion right now and the vacuum purchase comes with freebies like 10 extra dust bags, 1 furniture brush that we can attach to the vacuum to dust the sofa and 2 Tefal airtight container (I think she gave it to us out of goodwill). Priced at $159, it is indeed a good price, and we decided to buy this 1900W vacuum from her too.
If you have time, can slowly shop around for all these electrical stuff. The major stores out there have different promotion at different time periods and we feel satisfied that we were able to grab good deals at different time period at different places. Slowly enjoy the process of building up your home!
Clock
The clock is essential, yet may be something that one will forget to buy? We have bought 2 clocks, one for the living room and one for the bedroom. For the living room, we were looking at something more fancy since we are not having any wallpaper anymore. We found this at Young Generation, JP. It is quite special as it sort of doubles up as a painting. Becos of that, we decided that we will spend $120 on the below 1m clock cum painting. Every year got fish.
Then, darl wanted an old school clock for the room. We found a suitable one from Ikea at $38.50.
Paintings
These are good to have. When our ID drew up our house, he added so many paintings and we thought that it gives the house a diff feel. We decided that we should buy some paintings, esp at the partition wall which guests would see once they step into our house. It is tough looking for suitable paintings! Also didn't really know where paintings are sold. We looked for them at Ikea but couldn't find a suitable one, and could only remb the ones which we see at Bali and Krabi. So one day, when we were at Plaza Sing, we chanced upon Spotlight and found a section on drawings! The prices are reasonable at $35.50 each. So once you go to our unit, these 3 paintings will greet you first. We like it for its warm :)
